Iso 9001 Is A Generic Process Standard For Quality Management

ISO 9001 is a generic process standard for quality management. It is used to ensure that a company’s products satisfy their customers’ quality requirements and that they comply with any relevant regulations. The 8 principles of quality make up the back bone of ISO 9001, Customer Focus relates to ALL customers, both internal and external. As a business we need to understand our customer and seek to meet their requirements. At Honda we always strive to exceed our customer expectations. This is not only done by making everybody accountable for their actions, but also by harnessing their innovation, thus increasing their motivation. For individuals there is the Kaizen program and as a group there is NHC (New Honda Circle). An NH Circle is a small group of Associates working together, voluntarily, to improve their own work area, which in turn allows for better communication, improved teamwork and job satisfaction. An NHC is also an introduction to Quality tools like PDCA, QCDSME and SMART. It can lead to an overseas trip to present the project to senior management. NHC works on the principle that a company should utilise it’s staff’s abilities to their maximum potential and give them an enhanced feeling of self worth. Honda uses the Lean Manufacturing process approach to making cars. Lean Manufacturing works by reducing all process steps that do not add value to the product. It also promotes flexibility, continuous improvement, perfect first time quality, minimal waste and building a good relationship with suppliers.
